Lifeword Executive Director Lifeword Sunday will take place Oct. 20, 2024. This is the one time of year that we ask the churches of the BMA to pray for Lifeword, celebrate what God is doing through the ministry of Lifeword and take a special offering to help Lifeword increase her gospel footprint around the world. Jesus Christ understood the value of a great story. He was The Master Story-Teller. His parables and teachings not only impacted a generation, they changed the world. Lifeword exists to help make disciples through the creative proclamation, production and promotion of biblically-sound media that communicates in the heart language of every tongue, tribe and nation. Lifeword’s job is to tell His story to the nations. In 164 languages and to an audience of over 2 billion people, Lifeword is using media—radio, the Internet, and digital print—to share His story across the globe. We need you and your church family to help us accomplish this. Register your church today at WeTellTheStory.com. In the next couple of weeks, we will be mailing you a packet full of information regarding Lifeword Sunday and how you and your church can get involved. Our Lifeword Sunday t-shirts will be available for purchase on September 1st! Available in short-sleeve, long-sleeve, and sweatshirts, this is a great way to help us continue to tell the story of Jesus to the nations. Go to WeTellTheStory.com to order yours! The gospel is a story that needs to be heard by the whole world and we’re depending on you to help us share it. At Lifeword, We Tell The Story. Becoming a Missionary in Your Zip Code
Becoming a Missionary in Your Zip Code will be presented by Todd West, pastor connections coordinator for the BMA of Texas. Churches will naturally become inwardly focused without a biblical plan to focus outwardly, resulting in the focus being on budgets, buildings and ministries designed for our current members and ministry to those in other countries. Certainly, all of these are important, but not to the neglect of those who need Jesus in our own zip code. In this workshop, you will see how New Testament principles can come alive in the communities where God has placed our churches in this present day. This workshop is designed to place practical tools in your hands to implement in the church where you serve. At the end of the day, everyone will leave a customized plan for your zip code and the next steps for engaging your church family. When: October 15, 2024 Where: BMA of Texas Office Building, located at 632 Farley Street, Waxahachie, Texas Time: 10am - 3pm The Preaching Lab: The Theory and Practice of Illustrations and Application
The Preaching Lab will be presented by Clif Johnson, host of The Preaching Lab Podcast and pastor of Garrett Memorial Baptist Church in Hope, Arkansas. We all know that telling stories is not preaching, but sometimes preaching includes telling stories. And we also know that application grounded in a grammatical, redemptive-historical understanding of the meaning of the text is unhealthy preaching. In this seminar we will seek to sharpen these two tools that help build a biblical sermon.
