About Us

Our History

Baptist Progress is the informing and equipping ministry of the Baptist Missionary Association of Texas. Our purpose is to promote interest in missions, evangelism, benevolence and Christian education among the churches of the Baptist Missionary Association of Texas. Our offices are located in the BMA of Texas Building at 632 Farley Street in Waxahachie.

The publication was started in 1912. There have been 19 editors and two team leads, with the current team lead and editor being Morgan Standifer and Emily Simpson. Baptist Progress is published every third Wednesday. Between issues, email subscribers receive the e-News Update containing news and information.

Baptist Progress is responsible for managing the BMA of Texas website, www.bmatexas.org, as well as our own website, www.baptistprogress.org. 

We also offer a podcast, Making Progress, that walks the listener through the current issue of the Baptist Progress. We also offer Ministry Connection Workshops and other resources.

​The ministry of Baptist Progress is funded by churches of the Baptist Missionary Association of Texas and individual subscribers.

Our Team

Morgan Standifer

Team Lead

Morgan Standifer serves as the Team Lead for the Baptist Progress. Morgan helps oversee all daily operations of the Baptist Progress. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Christian Ministries from Liberty University. She has led ministry teams for years while serving at Daniel Springs Camp. She also currently serves with the BMA of Texas Department of Missions as the Missions Systems Team Lead.

Emily Simpson

Editor

Emily serves as the editor for Baptist Progress. She has an associate degree in journalism from Tyler Junior College, a bachelor’s degree in video production from Stephen F. Austin State University and finally a master’s degree in marketing from East Texas A&M, formally known as Texas A&M Commerce. She and her husband, Spencer, have faithfully served BMA
ministries for years.

Subscription & Finance

Lisa Maynard serves as Subscriptions and Finance for Baptist Progress. She has an extensive background in bookkeeping. Contact her concerning subscriptions and billing information.

Graphic Artist

Abby Clark serves a the graphic artist for Baptist Progress. She is in charge of layout and designing ads. If your church has a special graphic design project, needs logos, ads, or other specialty items, contact the Team Lead of Baptist Progress.

Chris Driver

Making Progress Host

Chris Driver serves as the podcast host for Making Progress. He leads our monthly conversations about the latest issue of the Baptist Progress. He also serves as one of our Baptist Progress writers and Pastor Connection Coordinator for the BMA of Texas Missions Department.
