About Us

Our History

Baptist Progress is the informing and equipping ministry of the Baptist Missionary Association of Texas. Our purpose is to promote interest in missions, evangelism, benevolence and Christian education among the churches of the Baptist Missionary Association of Texas. Our offices are located in the BMA of Texas Building at 632 Farley Street in Waxahachie.

The publication was started in 1912. There have been 18 editors, with the current editor being Jerry Fulton.
Baptist Progress is published every third Wednesday. Between issues, email subscribers receive the e-News Update containing news and information.

Baptist Progress is responsible for managing the BMA of Texas website, www.bmatexas.org, as well as our own website, www.baptistprogress.org. 

We also offer Ministry Connection Workshops and other resources.

​The ministry of Baptist Progress is funded by churches of the Baptist Missionary Association of Texas and individual subscribers.

Our Team

Jerry Fulton

Editor/Director

Jerry Fulton has served as director/editor of Baptist Progress since November 2004. He has preached in scores of conferences, revivals and Sunday worship services. A two-time graduate of Baptist Missionary Association Theological Seminary, Jerry is a licensed and ordained Baptist minister. In 2015, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Anchor Theological Seminary. Over the past 27 years, Jerry has served five churches as pastor, and also served as director of ministry development for the Texas Baptist Home for Children. He currently pastors First Baptist Church in Rice, TX. In addition to pastoring and serving as director/editor of Baptist Progress, he also serves as director of the Baptist Missionary Loan Association. Jerry and his wife, Cassie, reside in Waxahachie.

Office Manager

Paul Gauntt

Correspondent

Paul Gauntt served for 16 years as the director of the BMA of Texas Department of Church Ministries. He has served several churches as pastor, and is a correspondent for Baptist Progress.
