Update from his daughter, Tammie Davis:
My dad James Schoenrock tested negative for meningitis and was released into the care of Cheyenne Medical Lodge for rehabilitation and recovery from a diabetic coma. While he is extremely weak and fatigued, we are prayerful that over the weeks ahead, he will gain back his strength through physical therapy and much needed rest and will fully recover from pneumonia. They are keeping a watchful eye over his blood pressure and glucose levels. We are so thankful he is being cared for in a special place where they know him well. My mother spent her final days there and his sister Joyce Schoenrock Morgan is nearby recovering from a fall. Given his current condition, we ask for very limited visitation so that he can get the rest he needs. In the meantime, please consider sending him a note to Cheyenne Medical Lodge 750 TX-352, Mesquite, TX 75149. More than anything, our family would very much appreciate your continued prayers. An executive committee meeting has been called by BMA of Texas President Michael Pool that will take place at Pathway, Waxahachie at 11 a.m., May 20, 2025. The meeting will concern proposed constitutional changes regarding the ministry of Baptist Progress. Complete details will be published in the April issue of Baptist Progress.
An executive committee meeting is a special called meeting of the BMA of Texas at which all churches are allowed one executive committee member or messenger to represent the church and vote on its behalf. We encourage your church to send an executive committee member/messenger to this important meeting. To be sure, the ministry of Baptist Progress will remain intact, be enhanced and even be expanded should the constitutional changes be approved. These are exciting times for the ministry of Baptist Progress! JULY 8 – Interim Pastor Training
Facilitator: Jerry Fulton, Baptist Progress Director/Editor Where: BMA of Texas Building, 632 Farley Street, Waxahachie Time: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This workshop will answer for potential interim pastors the questions below: · What is an interim pastor? · What should be expected of the interim pastor? · How does the interim pastor make things ready for the next pastor? · How can the interim pastor connect the church to the Baptist Missionary Association of Texas? · How much should the interim pastor be paid? During the training, potential interim pastors will be provided with an assessment survey to use in the church they serve as well as other helpful tools. Those who complete the training will be certified as an interim pastor for the BMA of Texas. All potential interim pastors must have pastoral experience in order to attend the training. JULY 15 – Every Member “In” Ministry Facilitator: Todd West, BMA of Texas Pastor Connections Coordinator Where: BMA of Texas Building, 632 Farley Street, Waxahachie Time: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. As ministry leaders, we focus on making disciples of Jesus Christ. Have you considered that discipleship doesn’t just happen in the context of learning but also serving? We have all seen the radical change in the believer who “finds their lane” of service. What if I told you that you could potentially double the number of people serving? How would this impact the effectiveness of the church where God has placed you as a leader? The Every Member “In” Ministry workshop will give you practical, biblical ideas implemented in your church, regardless of location. The workshop will also foster relationships with other ministry leaders facing similar challenges and leave you feeling encouraged to join God on “mission” where you live. SEPTEMBER 9 – MD5 Discipleship Facilitator: Dr. Steve Crawley, BMA Financial Services Executive Director/MD5 Co-founder Where: BMA of Texas Building, 632 Farley Street, Waxahachie Time: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The MD5 workshop will introduce a practical discipleship resource designed to encourage and enable men to identify and fulfill God’s will for their lives. The three-phase process will involve a series of assessments to identify the “man I am today,” the writing of a eulogy to prescribe the “man God would have me be,” and the development of a formal Life Plan with spiritual disciplines and habits designed to bridge the gap between these two versions of one’s self.
