Liberty Baptist Missionary Association held a rally for Jacksonville College at Fellowship Baptist Church in Pittsburg.

Following a brief business session led by moderator Jed Whitaker, Dr. David Erickson, president of Jacksonville College, gave a very informative sermon about the ministries of the college. He explained how Jacksonville College has recently transitioned from a junior college to a four-year school which now offers fully accredited bachelor’s degrees in religion and business administration with more fields to soon be added.

Dr. Erickson stressed the importance of education in fulfilling the commandment, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, strength and mind.” Education exercises one’s mind to become an act of worship towards God.

Two members of the Jacksonville College Singers were present and sang inspiring duets. The service was followed by a delicious buffet meal served to the messengers and guests and provided by the host church.

The next meeting of Liberty BMA will be on Oct. 11 at 3:00 p.m. and will meet at Rosewood Baptist Church, 8260 Arrowwood Rd., Gilmer, TX 75644. This will be the 147th annual meeting of this local association which was first organized at Liberty Baptist Church near Hawkins in 1880.
