Jacksonville College 2025-2026 Recommendations

  1. That we support Jacksonville College’s mission as “a Jesus-centered community of higher education preparing students for lives of learning, work and service” and its vision “To make the advantages of a Christian education accessible to all who will work to obtain it.”
  2. That we commend Jacksonville College for transitioning to a four-year school and beginning a Bachelor of Science in Christian Ministry
  3. That we celebrate the work of educating 1,316 young people this past year that saw more students than ever before learning from faithful, Jesus-centered teachers at Jacksonville College
  4. That we, the churches of the BMA of Texas, commit to giving $400,000 in the coming year to educate the future leaders of our association as part of Jacksonville College’s budget of $4,431,072
  5. That we support the faithful faculty, staff and administrators of Jacksonville College who serve under the leadership of Dr. David Erickson

Proposed Changes to Bylaws
Article IV. Organization and Operation
The College is guided by the Bible and Statement of Faith. The College is guided by the Bible and shall teach and operate in accordance with the Doctrinal Statement adopted by the churches of the Baptist Missionary Association of Texas. Jacksonville College is an alcohol-, drug-, and tobacco-free campus. None of the above is allowed on campus or in the College’s facilities. Abusive or foul language, violent behavior, and destruction of property is strictly prohibited and will result in removal from property. These facilities may not be used by any individual, group, or organization that advocate, endorse, or promote sexual activity outside the bounds of marriage between a natural man and a natural woman as an alternative or acceptable lifestyle. This policy applies to, but not limited to, weddings, wedding and baby showers, birthday parties, reunions and anniversaries.

The bylaws of Jacksonville College and other documents provide for detail polity, personnel, and policies of the College as well as the Jacksonville College Course Catalog and the Jacksonville College Student Handbook. These documents are approved by the majority vote of the Trustees and administered by the president.

Article V. Dissolution

In the event it becomes necessary to wind up the operation of the college, after all liabilities and obligations of the college have been satisfied, the remaining assets and property of the college shall be transferred to the Baptist Missionary Association of Texas.

Article V. Amendments Article VI. Amendments
The bylaws may be amended by two-thirds (⅔) affirmative vote of the Trustees at any regular or special called meeting when two-week notice of proposed changes has been given. The Polity, the Personnel, the Course Catalog, the Student Handbook, and the Strategic Plan may be amended as needed with Trustee simple majority approval.
