This year’s Texas Girl’s Retreat was a sweet success! Eighty girls and ladies from across the state gathered at Daniel Springs Baptist Camp’s conference center in Gary, on Mar. 13–14, 2026, for a weekend full of friendship, laughter and time spent growing closer to the Lord.

From the moment they arrived, excitement was in the air. With the theme “Come to the Table,” the entire weekend felt like one big tea party. From the decorations to the activities to the songs, everything was thoughtfully centered around the theme, creating a fun and welcoming atmosphere from start to finish. Friday evening was filled with energy as girls jumped into activities like bracelet and tutu making, group photos, a “Find Someone Who…” scavenger hunt and time spent visiting the sale tables.

The first session kicked off with a welcome from Texas GMA President Allie Mauk, followed by fun songs and the introduction of the officers and their helpers, the “Little Teacups.” Before long, the group transitioned into a meaningful time of worship. The praise team led with enthusiasm, and the girls heard from weekend speaker Taffy Johnson. She spoke about Beauty (Beau-“tea”), meaning “adorned with kindness”, and she shared the biblical reasons for living with kindness. After the service, the night was far from over. The girls headed outside for s’mores by the fire, archery tag and more time to laugh and connect with friends. One of the most memorable moments of the night was the crowd-favorite fundraising event of pie-ing the officers in the face, a moment that had everyone laughing before heading off to bed.

Saturday morning started with breakfast before the annual business meeting. Once the meeting concluded, Assistant GMA Promoter Katie Allen led a special time recognizing GMA girls’ accomplishment, followed by the Miss and Jr. Miss GMA presentations. One highlight was Rebekah Thomas from Liberty District being named Texas Junior Miss GMA for 2026–2027. The morning concluded with a meaningful induction of the newly elected officers, led by Mrs. Johnnie Ross, Texas WMA President.

The fun picked right back up with the “Officers Spill the Tea” activity. Girls traveled around the conference center completing silly challenges with each officer, collecting letters along the way to unscramble for a prize (an adorable teapot keychain). Laughter filled the room as they worked together to figure it out.

Later in the morning, girls attended three breakout sessions that offered practical, biblical encouragement for everyday life. Each session connected back to the theme and challenged the girls to think about their faith in a personal and meaningful way.

The retreat wrapped up after lunch with one final session full of joy and laughter. The officer box competition results brought plenty of entertainment, especially as the two winning officers attempted to get themselves ready for a “tea party”, while blindfolded, in front of the crowd. After a time of worship, a final message from Taffy Johnson and a special offering taken up by the Little Teacups, the weekend ended with the passing of the gavel to the new president, Aileena Maynard from North Central Texas District.

As the girls said their goodbyes, it was clear this was a weekend they won’t soon forget. Friendships were strengthened, faith was encouraged, and memories were made that will last long after the retreat ended.

Mark your calendars now; Texas Girls Retreat 2027 will be held Mar. 12–13. You won’t want to miss it!
