By SARAH LOW Texas WMA Editor Liberty District
Liberty WMA met Jan. 10, 2026, at Camille Acres, Longview. President Johnnie Ross opened the meeting with remarks about the beautiful inheritance our Lord and Savior has for us, and the importance of leaving a Godly inheritance for our children, such as love, forgiveness and grace. Prayer was offered by Ava Pool. Sarah Low gave the welcome and led the ladies in reciting the WMA motto. A project offering was collected as Elizabeth Midkiff led the ladies in the song, “More About Jesus,” accompanied by Shirley Hoffpauir on the piano. Charlotte Johnson mentioned the upcoming GMA mission trip to Guatemala. Liberty District is fortunate to have four young ladies participating: Triniti and Allie Mauk, Samantha Dumas and Savannah Steelman. A collection for the general fund was taken and door prizes were awarded. Sarah Low introduced our guest speaker, Bro. Chris Driver. Bro. Chris is a church planter and has 22 years in ministry. Currently he is the pastor of Oasis, Levelland. He is looking ahead for the ability to plant more churches in the west Texas area. At the WMA meeting Bro. Chris spoke on the importance of Missionary Care. The care provided to our BMA Missionaries is vital to their success in reaching people to share the good news of Christ. Missionary Care also provides much needed support for families, engaging and connecting directly with the families of our missionaries. Bro. Chris spoke on the personal touch we as local church members can provide by reaching out to the missionaries, their wives and children with personal letters, cards, small gifts, handwritten prayers and encouragement. He asked the ladies to be creative and generous with cards and letters; it doesn’t have to be expensive to reach out in love and support. Liberty District Second Vice President Sarah Low introduced our theme for the meeting; “Call to Arms: Tour of Duty”. She stressed the importance of using our God-given weapons (spiritual gifts) to battle against evil, principalities and the darkness of this world. A project offering of $700 was received for TBHC’s new office in Tyler. A general fund offering of $102 was also received. Liberty District WMA voted to give Bro. Chris Driver $300 to go towards a new roof his church desperately needs. There were 28 present. Enon, Gilmer received the attendance banner. The next meeting will be held April 11, 2026, at Enon, Gilmer. Cherokee District The Cherokee District Women’s Missionary Auxiliary met Jan. 11, 2026, at First, Jacksonville. The host church served light refreshments after the meeting. The meeting was soon called to order by President Cindy Allen. Vice President Nancy Washburn read our year’s theme scripture, “Not by might nor by power but by my spirit says the Lord Almighty” taken from Zechariah 4:6. Taffy Johnson opened with prayer, and all were welcomed by Sarah Spunaugle, both members of First, Jacksonville. Carol Murph led us in “Rescue the Perishing” while the offering was taken. Aleesa Morris performed a song by signing “Wonderful Merciful Savior.” Mrs. Spunaugle introduced our speaker, Miss Matty Johnson. Matty Johnson is a member of First, Jacksonville, and a member of the Texas GMAs. She grew up on the mission field in Mexico with her parents, Bro. Eric and Kelly Johnson. This past summer, she went on an eight-day mission trip to various rural villages in Mexico. The days were spent visiting orphanages, conducting VBS, encouraging the children and teaching them about Jesus. One major highlight of the trip was the witnessing to and the salvation of their bus driver! Business was discussed and approved by the messengers. Our quarterly outreach will be a soup lunch for the BMA Seminary on Feb. 3. Each auxiliary is to provide a crock pot of soup, box of crackers or a pan of cornbread and a dessert. Words of appreciation were given by Cindy Allen from Cornerstone, Jacksonville. Our next meeting will be April 12 at First, Maydelle, and the quarterly outreach project is to be Elijah’s Retreat. Prayer requests were read by Connie Sherman of First, Maydelle, and then she closed the meeting in prayer. |
