Our Texas WMA theme for the year 2026 is “Each One Reach One”.

“Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Instead, they set it on a stand and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” Matthew 5:15-16.

These verses use a lamp on a stand giving light to a room to illustrate that a believer’s faith should not be hidden but instead, the purpose of their good works is to bring glory to their “Father who is in heaven”.

As simple as it sounds it is often so hard to do. For me, I love going on an Everlasting Smiles Christmas Shoebox trip in another country and sharing Jesus with a crowd of 50, 100, 200, or 4,000 people. Yes, they can see my face and I can see theirs. Yes, I pay money to do this. Yes, I sweat a lot while doing this. And yes, I eat a lot of different foods just to have the opportunity to share Jesus in another country. But put me back on the plane and bring me back home and put me in a different setting here in my small town at a basketball game and I do not have the same courage to be so bold to share Jesus. It is a bit harder for us when we know everyone, and everyone knows us. First, I risked my life on a plane, no big deal. Second, I risked my reputation here at home, big deal!

We may not be called to go to the jungles of South America or the war area of Ukraine, but we are called to be always reaching at least one. We must be willing to put Christ first in everything we do and obey his call on our life.

Luke 9:23 says “And he said to all, ‘If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me’”. This is an all or nothing verse.

We must remember how many times Jesus risks his life and then he died for us and the people right here in my small town. We do not have to go far to find someone who is lost without Christ, hurting from loneliness, hungry, or suffering. Because shining the light is all about introducing people to the saving power of Jesus, we should have the sense of urgency, motivated by the love of God, to do everything within our power to bring people to him.

Ladies, let us be ready to be a beacon of light in all places, to all people even if in an unconventional way.
