Each One Reach One and Texas Sunbeams

​Our ladies were greeted warmly with balloons and staff at South Park Baptist Church in Fort Worth for our retreat with a theme of Each One Reach One.
 
Diana Morris kicked things off with games and prizes as our ladies arrived and settled in. Whitney Dalton gave testimony of God’s faithfulness during a difficult time that is ongoing for her son and family. She spoke about an injury her son suffered and about the people God put in her life before, during and after that time. These people encouraged her to attend church, encouraged her and her children’s growth in God and encouraged her during her son’s recovery. She spoke about the people she encountered during her time in the hospital and how she was able to witness to them.
 
Diana spoke on our theme, Each One Reach One. “You are the light of the world,” Matthew 5:14. God says we are the light and we were created to shine, to bring light to those around us. We don’t have to reach everyone, just those God puts in our lives. We just need to be faithful to witness to those in our lives and continue to faithfully witness. She encouraged us to identify one person God has placed in our lives and be a light to them.
 
That evening we heard from JW about her work to the unreached people group she works with. She stressed how relationships open doors for her to reach people.
 
Our group reconvened Saturday morning and heard from Wendy Garcia. She spoke about her childhood and her prayer that she would marry a missionary. God answered her prayer and relocated her from Guatemala to Mississippi. She talked about the people who helped support her through the challenges of being in a culture so different from her own.
 
She asked, “Who shared their light with you? Who can you share your light with?”
 
The compassion and care that were given during her transition helped grow the mission outreach with her husband, Elvis. Jesus set the model for us in that He saw the people, He cared for them, and He acted. We should do the same. We should intentionally and consistently share the gospel with those in our lives.
 
Kelly Williams, national WMA first vice president, encouraged the ladies to participate in the national project, raising money for “Water for Christ” to drill 10 wells in Ghana.
 
Breakout sessions included a workshop on BMA 101: For Women, Prayer Bible Technique, Be the Light, The Call to Relational Responsibility, and a jewelry making class. Attendees were encouraged to make beaded bracelets for the Christmas shoebox ministry during their time between sessions.
 
The silent auction raised over $1,000 for our state project, Tommy and Sara Rose, to help them purchase property for a church building in Queretaro, Mexico.

TEXAS SUNBEAM RETREAT
The Texas State Sunbeams met Saturday July 11 at Rosewood Baptist Church, Gilmer, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunbeams joined the Liberty District WMA for presentations at 10:15 a.m.
 
Our theme was “Jesus Loves the Little Children” with Mark 19:14 as our theme verse. Sunbeams discovered how much Jesus absolutely loves them (Mark 18:1-6). Sunbeams love Jesus because He first loved them (1John 4:19). Sunbeams can show their love for Jesus by “letting their light shine.” (Matthew 5:16)
 
After dressing in Bible-day attire, Sunbeams traveled back in time on an Odyssey to discover how children in Biblical history let their light shine for God. Using their examples, Sunbeams identified how they too can shine for God as a light in their world (Matthew 5:14 - Sunbeam Motto). Sunbeams also had opportunities in praise, crafts, fellowship, refreshments and fun!
 
With four churches and two districts in attendance; we had seven Sunbeams, six counselors and four Galileans. Sunbeams raised $1,115 for our project, Texas Missionary Family Care Ministry.
 
We thank you for your prayers for Sunbeam attendance, their understanding of how much Jesus treasures them and how He can use their light to shine. Continue to pray for our Sunbeams and their leaders as they go back home to share Jesus with those around them!
