Let Me Tell You About Daniel Springs Camp

This week my church, First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, Texas, took a group of students to Daniel Springs Baptist Camp in Gary, Texas, to join about 600 other students for Ark-La-Tex Camp. We had an amazing experience. Let me tell you about Daniel Springs Camp.
 
As a pastor and the director of one of our other national departments, Baptist Publishing House, I want to make a point to commend the quality of the preaching and teaching that we experienced this week. I was encouraged to hear the Bible and the gospel preached clearly each day as Bro. Brian Mauk of Rosewood Baptist Church in Gilmer, Texas, served as our camp pastor. My students were also impressed by the depth of teaching offered by the Daniel Springs workers, who are called “summer missionaries”— and for good reason.
 
I am grateful to share that we saw the Lord move powerfully in the lives of our students. One made a profession of faith, another expressed they feel called to missions, while another shared her desire to disciple younger students. I know the ministry efforts of Daniel Springs are a blessing to churches all across the BMA.
 
While spiritual matters are most important, I would also like to express my appreciation for the excellence of the facilities and the campground as a whole. Let me put it this way: the cabins were nice, the beds were comfortable, the showers worked, the air conditioning was refreshing, the food was great, the grounds were beautiful and the games, canteen, and gift shop were all pleasant experiences. Y’all, we have a top-notch camp in the BMA!

​My good report would not be complete without complimenting Bro. Jason Prewitt. Throughout the week, I sat back and watched how he led. I watched him pray with the workers, answer phone calls, serve snacks, talk to students, run errands and do so much more. On top of all that, he ministered to the adult sponsors by serving as our small-group leader. He took time to pour into us, lift our spirits and help us direct our hearts toward the Lord. It is obvious that Jason provides consistent biblical devotion and spiritual encouragement to all who come to Daniel Springs, whether as a worker or a camper.
 
I have been to several different camps throughout my life. I have to say that Daniel Springs is the best camp, in every respect, that I have ever had the joy of attending. I look forward to returning year after year.
