The annual meeting of the Texas WMA will be Tuesday, Nov. 18, at Pathway, Waxahachie. It begins at 9 a.m. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. You are encouraged to attend as we celebrate the 125th anniversary of the BMA of Texas and the WMA.
News from Cherokee District WMA The Cherokee District Women’s Missionary Auxiliary met at Cornerstone, Jacksonville on Oct. 12. President Cindy Allen called the meeting to order. Annie Williams opened with prayer, and Jo Ann Bass welcomed all to Cornerstone. Vice President Nancy Washburn introduced the Bible verse/theme for the year, “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit says the Lord Almighty,” Zechariah 4:6, as the new program books were handed out to everyone. President Allen introduced the speaker Rebecca Orr, a senior at Jacksonville High School and member of Cornerstone. At the age of 13, while attending SOAR, Rebecca became interested in missions. Due to her age, she had to wait a few years. She took her first mission trip to Peru in 2024. At the meeting she spoke about her mission trip to Romania. The group began in Brasov, Romania, working with the BMA missionaries who live there. Their first task was to help clean and set up an outside venue for a coffee shop which would serve as a gathering place. They traveled to several communities teaching, preaching and mentoring to the gypsies, or Roma, who are very prominent across Romania. They conducted Vacation Bible Schools reaching the children through singing, games and crafting. At one point, Rebecca was able to share her testimony. President Allen presented Rebecca with a token of our appreciation in sharing her mission trip with us. Business was conducted and the ladies were reminded of the Texas BMA and WMA meeting in Waxahachie Nov. 17-18. The next district meeting will be Jan. 11, 2026 at First, Jacksonville. Felicia Mayo thanked Cornerstone for hosting the meeting. Connie Sherman read prayer requests and Cindy Allen dismissed in prayer. News from Liberty District WMA Liberty District WMA met at Antioch Baptist Church on Saturday, October 11. The meeting was preceded with a delicious brunch. The ladies had a wonderful time of fellowship. The meeting opened with President Johnnie Ross reading scripture from Acts 4:23 and spoke on holy boldness. Elizabeth Midkiff offered a prayer, and Tami Blackburn gave the welcome. Rebekah Ayres, historian, requested photos from each church of their WMA for the district scrapbook. Project promoters Glenice Whitaker and Amanda Thomas proposed the new Tyler office for Texas Baptist Home for Children as the WMA project for 2025-26. The Home needs welcome baskets for each new family that partners with TBHC as foster families, along with other needs. TBHC was unanimously voted as the new project. The project goal was set at $3,000. A project offering of $900 was received to complete the 2024-25 project for Texas Baptist Home for Children in Waxahachie. The goal was surpassed with a total year-to-date offering of $3,250. God is good. A general fund offering of $111 was also received. Sarah Low, Second VP, spoke on the theme “Call to Arms”, taken from Proverbs 31:17, “She equips herself with strength and makes her arms strong.” Sarah commented, “God gives us the tools we need to do battle, and I’m hoping as we learn more about these tools. It will make us strong, capable, and effective soldiers for Christ.” Guest speakers included Jason Curry, president of Texas Baptist Home for Children, a Christ-centered foster care and adoption center; and Keith Brown, director for Association of Baptist Students, a campus ministry that serves the students at Tyler Junior College and University of Texas at Tyler. The ladies then broke into small groups and studied scripture. In closing, the ladies sung “Called”, the WMA song. There were 36 present, Camille Acres received the banner. The next meeting will be held at Camille Acres in Longview on January 10, 2026. The committee would welcome your input on this document. To provide feedback, simply go to the “Officers” tab and fill out the form at the bottom of that page. Your involvement is appreciated. Be sure to check the WMA website, www.texaswma.com for complete details on all events. WMA Project Totals Update As of the publication time, the state WMA has received a considerable amount toward the $30,000 goal for Texas Baptist Home for Children. Be sure to be at the Texas State WMA meeting at Pathway, Waxahachie on November 18 to hear the final amount. The Lord is to be greatly praised! WMA Project (TBHC) Praise Praise to the Lord that the BMA of Texas is blessed with Texas Baptist Home for Children. Praise to Him alone that TBHC has been able to change/adapt to the governmental challenges throughout the years. Praise to God Almighty that BMA folks love and support the ministry of TBHC. Thanks be to our loving Father that the WMA had the opportunity to support this ministry during 2025 through our efforts to create a campus that is visible and is a light and a beacon of hope. |
