Constitution
ARTICLE I—NAME AND LOCATION
Section 1. This institution shall be known as the Baptist Progress.
Section 2. The office of the Baptist Progress shall be located in Dallas and/or Waxahachie.
ARTICLE II—PURPOSE
Section 1. The purpose of the Baptist Progress shall be to promote interest in missions, evangelism, benevolence and Christian education among the churches of the Baptist Missionary Association of Texas.
ARTICLE III—OWNERSHIP
Section 1. The Baptist Progress shall be owned, controlled, and maintained by the churches composing the Baptist Missionary Association of Texas.
ARTICLE IV—OFFICERS AND THEIR DUTIES
Section 1. The officers of the Baptist Progress shall be: (1) A Board of Trustees consisting of thirteen (13) members; (2) editor and business manager (one office).
Section 2. The Board of Trustees shall be elected by the State Association during the annual sessions, and shall serve on a staggered basis for one four year term with re-election for one four year term, not to exceed a total of eight years. They shall meet as often as deemed necessary, at the most convenient place for the purpose of promoting this institution, and shall have the power to perform any other business necessary to the proper transaction of business between the meetings of the annual association.
Section 3. The Editor and Business Manager shall be elected annually by the messenger body upon the recommendation of the Board of Trustees. He shall have charge of this institution. He shall receive and disburse all funds, hire additional help as needed, and transact any other business necessary to the proper carrying on of this institution, subject to the approval of the churches in annual session. If at any time the Editor shall become unable to perform his editorial and management duties, the trustees shall appoint a qualified individual to serve as Interim Editor, until the Editor is able to resume his regular services, or until the Trustees have recommended a replacement for this position in the event such becomes necessary.
ARTICLE V—FUNDS
Section 1. All funds shall be received by voluntary contributions, subscriptions, sale of advertisement space, and other proper sources.
Section 2. All funds shall be used to carry out the purpose of this institution.
Section 3. In case of an emergency the trustees shall be authorized to borrow money to maintain this institution.
ARTICLE VI—CHANGE OF CONSTITUTION
This constitution shall be changed only by a majority vote of the messengers of the churches present at an annual session.
