A Covenant of Salt

8/15/2025

The 2025 Texas Women’s Retreat is in the books. It was a blessed time of worship, ending with the ladies in attendance coming together in a ‘covenant of salt’ with the Lord: thanking Him for the enduring and unbreakable nature of his relationship with us, recommitting to obedience to Him in purity and holiness, friendship and hospitality, and as the salt of the earth.

Friday evening was a time of singing, games, refreshments, crafts and mission work. Saturday morning began with a delicious breakfast in the Fellowship Hall. At 9 a.m. everyone met in the sanctuary of Rosewood Baptist Church for a welcome by Texas WMA President Cindy Allen and Amanda Thomas from Rosewood, followed by the introduction of the theme of the retreat, “A Cup of Friendship”, by 2nd Vice President Charlotte Johnson. During the course of the retreat, Song Leader Karen Isaacs led selections from the hymnal all pointing to Jesus as our True and Constant Friend.
The next portion of the retreat highlighted our Texas GMA’s. Texas GMA 2nd Vice President Savannah Steelman explained the meaning and purpose of GMAs to the ladies with help from some local GMA girls.

Texas GMA President Allie Mauk brought an inspiring devotional. Madalie Gardner and Triniti Mauk summarized the GMA Mission Trip to Mexico.

After a short break, Shirley Hoffpauir delivered the next portion of the program as a chalk-talk: a dynamic and visual method requiring each lady present to evaluate “What is in Your Cup?” Next, each attendee had the opportunity to choose their first of three break- out sessions. The five options were Coffee Break, by Debi Powers; Friendship Evangelism, by Tammy Woods; Meaningful Friendships, by Glenda Chamberlain; Bring Your Cup to the Table, by Cindy Allen, and the Hispanic session, A Special Friendship According to God’s Will, by Leticia Lopez.

An amazing salad luncheon, with beautifully appointed tables, was enjoyed by all in-between the first and second breakout sessions. Rosewood had it catered by a local artisan. The salads were varied, all delicious, and there were also several options for some decadent desserts. Two more breakout sessions followed lunch, concluding with everyone gathering in the sanctuary one last time for a time of prayer and commitment with the covenant of salt.

Much planning, much prayer, and many hours of physical work go into each and every meeting or event the WMA hosts. This is true on state, national, district and even local levels. You can be helpful on any or all of these levels. Consider being a part of your church’s or area’s women’s organization. You will be blessed.
